Marine Surveys for Purchase

Condition and Valuation Survey for Purchase

At Marine Surveys Canada, we specialize in purchase surveys of medium to large sized yachts and superyachts, which usually include a comprehensive inspection both in and out of the water. This entails:

  • Out-of-water inspection: A detailed inspection of the vessel structure, including hull bottom and underwater gear, as well as static inspection of all onboard systems and equipment.
  • Inspection Afloat: Dockside inspection including dynamic inspection (powering up and testing) of all onboard systems and equipment.
  • Sea Trial: A test run to assess the vessel’s performance while underway.

Purchase surveys are thorough and accepted by insurers when a survey is required. Identifying costly repairs during these inspections can save you significant expenses. Additionally, these surveys include a valuation or appraisal of the vessel’s fair market value, though it’s important to note that this valuation may not account for market fluctuations.
