An out-of-water survey for insurance underwriting is designed to establish the soundness of a vessel, the condition of its onboard systems and equipment, and its suitability for intended use. This allows an insurer to determine if issuing an insurance policy is an acceptable risk. Please note that an insurance survey is not a guarantee of insurability, as the final decision ultimately rests with the underwriter. Insurance surveys include a valuation, or appraisal, of the vessel’s fair market value.
